Günnar rocks out with THE BIG FOUR!

When my friend Dave Mustaine called me up and told me he'd set aside a few tickets for me, I was stoked!  VIP access to THE BIG FOUR!!

I know, I know, wearing an Iron Maiden shirt!  I was locked and loaded and ready to go.  I had everything planned out, and the whole adventure went off without a hitch.

Rode out to the venue on one of those full sized tour buses, and it was awesome.  EVERYONE was rockin' the horns, and they all loved my totally badass vest.

I couldn't wait to get to the venue!

After clearing security, it was quick work to get to my spot, right up front!

First up was ANTHRAX.  The crowd was awesome and the pit was feisty.  Their set was perfect!  During "Indians" Joey Belladonna put on this giant Indian chief's feathered headdress and ran around stage. I was really impressed with Joey. He was lean and sounded terrific. And the rest of the band was tight too. Scott Ian is always awesome and hilarious.

Up next was MEGADETH!  I don't even need to tell you how freaking awesome MEGADETH is.  There is no equal.  The pit was rolling over itself.

Dave played this bad ass twin-necked flying v guitar!

 Next up was SSSSSSSSLLLLAAAAAAYYYYEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

Well, what can I say about the Slayer set? Anyone who has witnessed this band live knows what to expect and knows that the energy is like nothing else.

After that, it was time for METALLICA!!!  This was the highlight of the night.  These guys know how to put on a show, and it was awesome to be rocking out with the crowd while they played.
After awhile, I needed to take a break, and who do I run into, but Tom Araya, from Slayer!  I didn't want to be a total A-hole, so I didn't snap a picture, but we talked for a few minutes, and I congratulated him on a great show.

But then it was right back up front to finish out Metallica's set.

When James started doing some speech about the Big 4,  I knew it was time for the big all-star-jam thingy. Let me be honest here. I'm not a fan of such spectacles as they are usually a jumbled mess, but they actually did a really cool version of "Am I Evil" with members from all the bands on stage (Tom Araya sat this one out, though). Given that, for the event, this was pretty much obligatory, I think it sounded as good as it could and really enjoyed it.

Want to know what was freaking hilarious?

This.

Grown men trying to squeeze air out of a teeny hole, so they can keep some crappy black beach ball.  Quit being a d-bag and freaking ROCK OUT!

I got home tired, dirty, and sore, but the night was a success.  I love these kind of big, over the top shows.  I can't wait for the next one.
